My usb not detect

Hello,
My laptop and desk top were in good working with USB flash.But after checking with an SD memmory card the both systems are not detecting the flash drives only with usb.One my good USB also corrupted.Please help me how to solve these problems,i want to use my USB regularly.My desk top is Windows XP,Lap top is Windows 7
