Canon MP730 or HP OfficeJet 5500?

I'm looking at buying an inkjet Multi-Function
printer/copier/fax/scanner. I currently have an circa-1992 Brother
MFC5500ML laser multi, and need color capability. I'm considering either
the Canon MultiPass 730 or the HP OfficeJet 5500, 5510, or the 6110.
Does anyone have any input on these products? And, is one more quiet
than the other in operation.

I have a Canon i860 inkjet, and its mechanics create much more noise than
my older HP 930c inkjet. And, I understand the MP730 uses similar
mechanics.

The unit will be used primarily for color faxing from the unit, and from
the PC.

Also, I understand HP's software and software installation is not as
"sorted out" as Canons. Any comments on this would also be appreciated.
