Good morning:

I hope someone can help. I am running Windows NT and have
a cable modem for high speed internet. I cannot establish
a connection. I keep getting this message:

"The DHCP client could not obtain an IP address".

When I connect another computer (WIndows XP Home) to the
cable, I establish a connection immediately. I checked
the NIC card and it is functional and called the ISP.
Said everything fine on there end. Please help me..

Thanks....Mike

If you indeed have an xdsl modem and not a router of some sort, you may have
to connect using PPPoE.
This protocol is not implemented in WinNT4.0, but is in XP. If so, try to
install a client like Ras PPPoE (available at: www.raspppoe.com).
If you had to create a connection somewhat like a dialup-connection using
XP, where you had to enter your
username and password to connect, this is most likely the case.

Good luck!
