I have a few bad entries in my NT 4 WINS server. I see no
way to manually tombstone these or delete them. There is
a "delete owner" button but no record delete button. How
can I mannuly removed crusty dynamic entries that are not
only no longer valid but screwing up my network? Please
advise!

Thank you,

Chris

From time to time the WINS database can become corrupted. It is usually best
to delete completely and let it repopulate. Note that this may not be the
best option if you have multiple push/pull partners and an extensive WINS
database. Sometimes you will see records that have strange characters that
are actually non microsoft services registering in WINS and may or may not
cause any issues. If you want to have this population start over just stop
the WINS service, delete the contents of the winnt\system32\wins folder and
restart the WINS service. This will take a few hours typically to get all
the computers back and registered and there may some browsing issues after
doing this. You could also just cut the contents of the winnt\system32\wins
folder to another location in case you want to put it back. Make sure your
current WINS servers point ONLY to themselves for Primary and Secondary
WINS.

If they are unusual mappings chances are they will return.
Have a look at the following:

Unusual Addresses Like 1.10.0.184 Showing in WINS Database
