is it safe to use my 20 pin connector 2 my 24 pin slot mobo?

well it does rily work when i offset the connector to one side.

what does concern me if its safe to use it.
im just afraid that i might cause problems to my newly built pc.
is there any advantages using a 24 pin?

Yes it is safe to use it.

The xtra 4 pins just supply additional wires of 12v power (and ground). If you have the 24 pin, use it. If you don't, use 20 and it will work fine.

If you would feel safer, then you can buy a 20/24pin adapter, but Fish is right in that it will work and is safe.

Actually, the extra four wires are 12v, 5v, 3v, and Ground, last I checked.

Some board manufacturers say that using a 20-pin connector in conjunction with a high powered graphics card that gets its power from the slot (that would be like, 6600GT maybe) could cause instability. So they're probably saying the board's traces are too thin to carry that much current through only 20 pins...
!
