Hi everyone;

I am looking to purchase a nice PHAT RIG.
My budget is within range of $100-$200.
These are my prerequisites:
- Aluminum
- Screwless inside/outside
- Open window bay to see motherboard
- Does not generate a lof of noice
- Easy to install

I am have looked at two hot Aluminums and these are:
Antec Performance I
http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=81602

LianLI PC_V1000
http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Lian_Li_Industrial_Co_Lian_Li_PC_V1000B_Plus_Aluminum_Quiet_Tower_Black

I am leaning toward the LIANLI but it's a hard choice over the easy of use from ANTEC Performance I.

Another fascinating RIG is the one from ASUS Ventu 3600. Take a look at it and let me know what you think.

I got a Antec Super Lanboy anodized aluminum case with 2x120mm fans that came with the case, 1 being a blue LED fan one of the best things about it is that it has removable hard drive trays. I've added some extra variable and high speed fans for better cooling but all in all it is an awsome case, the only down side is that it is only a mid tower but I got a Fatality mother board that fits it perfect so it kind of makes up for the fact that it is only a mid tower. More mods makes it a lot nicer.

I own the Antec P160 Case, it's not a bad case at all. The only problem I had with it was with my CD-Rom drive and the drive rails. It was a real pain trying to put the CD Drive in the case. It's a great looking case, especially with the side window that easily comes off.

2 options for you to consider:

COOLER MASTER Wave Master TAC-T01-E1C Silver

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811119023 $130

Side Window http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811999753 $27

Great looks, excellent interior design & cooling AND a removable mobo tray.

For the very best, check this out:

SILVERSTONE TJ-03 SLVR

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811163014 $273

SILVERSTONE side panel w/ window

Haro,

Get a Super Lanboy. Has 2x 120mm quiet fans, drive trays for easy access, has a spot for hiding cables especially the large ones, high quality aluminum, and cost $89.99 or less. (BTW, Comp USA had a discount that brought this case to like $45 est during Black Friday of 05).

Love the ANTEC, great price/performance.

Lian-Li is AWESOME.

The ASUS IS really weird... dunno about that one.

The COOLER MASTER and SILVERSTONE are both very nice and I would recommend them both although the latter is very expensive but worth it I'm SURE.

I dunno it's a very hard decision... quality-wise the SILVERSTONE and Lian-Li are the best, followed by the COOLER MASTER and the ANTEC.

A word of caution! Most screwless designs are really terrible, I do not consider that a good feature.

Any of the above would make a REALLY PHAT rig. Just make sure you get an ANTEC neopower or similar PSU with removable cables so you can get rid of cable clutter inside the case.

Have always considered the case & PSU as the most important 1st step in any new build. A great power supply can save you more agony down the road than any other single element in your build. Clean, stable power maximizes both the performance of your parts as well as the longevity of your parts. You may spend more on the front end, but a great PSU will more than pay for itself over the lifetime of your rig. PC Power & Cooling is tops, but this Silverstone modular is the modular version of their Zeus 650W beast and simply top of the line. Here are 2 to consider:

Tagan TG480-U22 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817101516 $91

SILVERSTONE SST-ST60F http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817163109 $169

I have the SILVERSTONE TJ-03 and the
SILVERSTONE Strider ST60F Modular and they not only look super, they are "PHATT" on performance as well. The Tagan is a modular PSU as well, and superb for it's price. Reviews for both are all over the net. Happy building!

Hello,

I would recommend the ANtec Tru550 SLI ready. It's under $100.

Now if you are looking for fewer wires. Get a modular power supply. That is, plug wires in that you need only into the PSU. Some are SLI ready, but many will support SLI even though it is not certified.

BTW, I'm still using my Antec Tru480 W and it works perfectly for my SLI (though they are not certified).

I like my tool free and motherboard tray on my SuperFlower 201T and Antec PC-60Plus... :D :D
Altho similar in design, the SF201T is an all around better quality case and at a lower price, I just could not find it for re-sale!

1. Coolermaster
2. Lian Li
3. Antec

go with those brands for true performance and absolute quality. If you want elagance and not the flashy crap all the nUbs @ LAN partys have, go with one of these brands. I have a CoolerMaster Cavelier case, and it could not be more amazing. It is steel, however.

Wow now I am leaning toward the Antec Performance I P160W. It seems after all that is a new case on the block and it is HOT. Indeed the Lanboy is a good case as well but it has been out for a few months...I will lean toward the new case and I have seen the reviews.

The reviews are outstanding and not overkill about what is said about the case. Here are two good reviews regarding this case.

URL 2: http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/p160w/

Now off to choose a good powersupply and fans. Thank you everyone for the advise and feedback.

Crashman, seems like you have something to say. What is your current RIG and if you don't have a good one which one would you purchase and why? You don't have to mention the RIGS that we have talked about about here.

Let me get your opinion about RIGS and all the plusses that they have to offer. Which rig do you currently have?

I see a lot of endorsements for cases, I own a lot of cases. Someone should speak up and tell me why they believe certain features are so usefull.

I'm using the Opus Technologies MT-200 with a Zalman Reserator 1, a custom-built power supply, and a few Panaflow low-speed fans wired for 7v. I've removed the front door on the case for convenient drive access.

Nobody likes my case, and that's fine because I'm not recommending it to anyone. The thing I find so usefull is that it has many external drive bays in a standard 17" height.

I do own "better" cases, and when I recommend one of them it's based on actual experience during testing. I see a lot of guys recommending products based on useless or nearly useless features, so what makes that Antec case so desireable?
