Heres a poser.....Home wireless network, DSL modem, Wireless router. PC
hardwired with 2 wireless laptops. One laptop connects no problem, second
laptop connects to network and can download email but cannot browse using
IE6. Instead of 'detecting network settings' it tries to connect to 1.0.0.0
(which of course doesn't work!) Both laptops have identical settings, auto
detect etc

I am at a loss, any ideas?

Are you sure the settings are identical? Check the gateway on the laptop
that can't get out. Make sure it is set to the router. If there is
nothing in there, manually put in the router's IP address.
