Hi, there,

My computer has assigned a fixed IP before and I want to release it so I can
assign the fixed IP to another PC.

My Windows NT4.0 has some problem. When I click the "Network" icon in the
control panel, nothing pops up.

If I want to change the IP settings of my computer, such as IP Address,
Subset Mask, Default gateway, WINS Server and DNS Servers, what can I do in
my case?

Hi,

I guess "network neighborhood" properties doesn't work either?

You might want to try to run the control panel applet "ncpa.cpl" manually,
or replace

it by the original from your NT distribution.

The following knowledgebase articles might be helpful:

Actually, "network neighborhood" properties works well. I think my problem
here is that I can not enter the network setting Windows interface. Is there
a DOS command in NT4 that can change a static IP setting into a DHCP dynamic
IP setting?

I tried to run it manually, however no window shows up, just like after I
click 'network' icon in 'control panel'

Let me give more detail: when I click 'control panel', the windows includes
lots of icons (include 'network' icon) shows up. However, when I click the
following icons, no new window shows up: 'network', 'add/remove programs',
'devices', 'server' and 'Services'.

Any further suggestion? Thanks,

:( Then if there is a way that I can modify the Windows registry manually?
Or what is Sysprep tool and how can I get it?

The "control panel" can be always open. Previously the "network" icon is
there but does not work. After I delete it and replace the one on WinNT CD,
the icon disappear after reopening "control panel".
