I'm bombed. Does that help?
Guarantee, that missle is launched, it won't get very far. . . we (or Japan) will shoot it down.
Bacon and beer? No that wont work. Damn what would work agianst a communist government?

I hope they don't. It's only Cali, Disneyworld trumps Disneyland and I don't drink wine.
Listened to first few chapters of Nothing's Sacred (as read by the author). . . not funny-- witty, but not funny. I was expecting funny.
Try drinking. It helps. Really.
No. . . that would make me more like. . . you.
8)
If something like that were to happen, I'd rather not be around to witness it.
Why don't you drink? [/serious Q, trying not to sound like a drunk]
Never was an "option" i.e. was never presented to me as a behavior to adopt (no one in family or authority figure exhibits). While concurrently surrounded by a host of Mr. Mackey types ("drugs are bad, mkay?" ). Not to mention I was never in a situation where peer preassures could be brought to bear.
I do use spirits and other sundry distilliates in recipies (bananas Foster) from time to time, and I am not opposed to the consumption of alcoholic beverages (by others), per se. I also have and do buy such items as presents and tokens of appreciation.
Another part of the explanation, I guess, is: water is cheaper. Seriously. (When out, I rarely order a beverage with my meal, unless the establisment has an interesting tea.). I come from a long and glorious tradition of cheapskates.
No alcohol, no drugs. . . for that matter no-- well, that's another story.
Logical. I was just curious and wasn't looking to rip ya'.
I actually enjoy the taste of a good beer. Sorry RC. (
) The buzz is simply a
side (and welcome) benefit.
Generally I only have a couple on Fri and Sun nights. (work Tues-Fri)

No apologies or clarifications necessary. I never had to answer that question before.
With the wife its a theology thing, mostly.

Do we get another story now?
You want Paul Harvey, not me
No, that's "And now you know the rest of the story", not another story...
Damn. . .
I tried.
You're into moonshine and selling it. Good idea. Never use your own product.
Yep. So spill. Why you get no sex?

Ahh... um.. It'll get far as long as they don't have any problems wi th it.
The Missile Shield is designed to only intercept missiles in their final stage. The US is currently experimenting with shooting one down shortly after launch.
The two Aegis Destroyers out there right now are there to track and get the final destination figured out long before we have to launch an interceptor (Patriot-III).

Although it's never been stated (that I've seen) this is the most likely use for the ugly stealth ships Iv'e seen in development...Subs would be perfect, if they weren't allways submerged...An effective "Missle shield" requires on station un-detectable surface ships loaded with "E"lint....
I've yet to see any effective way to hide them from good ole' fashioned binoc's though...The third worlds prying eyes of choice,Fishing trawlers which we can't just board & inspect willy nilly on the high seas...Or in their territorial waters for that matter...Simply blowing them out of the water isn't an option either
Alas it's not a perfect world....
US subs can launch their missiles from 250 ft under water from what I was told. At around 75-100 feet under water, you can't see anything, even the sub, from the air.
Though the problem still remains that you have to have visibility to see the missile.. I believe it's some form of GPS tracking used, meaning triangulation needs to be involved. Thus, 2 Aegis Detroyers, plus the base in Alaska or the other one, giving at least 4 locations. Add in Japan, we have many more locations for tracking.
It wouldn't make sense to launch the missile from a sub.
I think those Aegis destroyers are equipped with that Aussie made machine gun that shoots like 1 million rounds a minute of shrapnel.. so if an incoming cruise missile is heading at it, it throws so much crap out there that it shreds missiles coming. Not sure how it works on torpedos though.
My coworker who spent some time on a US sub said that they were tracking a ship for 30 days at see and their job was to remain unnoticed. After their 30 days, he said they launched a green flare. Immediately following that, another green flare went up. He said another hi-tech US sub had been tracking them for the past 15 days and had to remain undetected.
Scary stuff, considering he said their sub was still hi-tech.. apparently this other one was far more advanced.
I still like what Ronbo had us do in the eighties...While he & Gorby were in a summit meeting. Which led to Gorbys quote "Its your Submarines that are the problem!"
We had a Los Angeles class attack sub assigned to every one of The Soviets Ballistic missile subs (which are only effective only if un-detected)
at a pre-determined time Ron Let Gorby supposedly back him into a corner....Then one of Gorbys aides whispers in his ear that every one of their "Boomers" (SSBN's) had just been "Pinged" simultaneously all over the globe. Basicly stating we can see you but you can't see us.
Glasnost & the fall of the the Berlin wall soon followed
Yeah.. he was a true President. When I hear President, he's the guy that pops into my head first. Even though I was young, I still remember seeing him on TV, giving his speeches and what not. I remember sitting there watching the elections on TV and states turning blue and red.
what the second time?
i dont think you were alive for his first election were you?
Yeah, I was born in '81. I was old enough to remember his second election.
yeah thats what i figured, you and I are the same age. 8)
Damn. I thought you were an old stuck up geezer.
Takes one to know one!
lol, i am.

Sick kids. . .
7 week old has had a cold for 8 days past (as have I). Now the 2 year old, who just got over it has some new unknown ailment.
No time for sex. Those with multiple young kids understand.
Both my kids have had recent multiple battles with strep throat. Very mild fever
and low appetite were only signs, which happens with colds with them too.
Strep. Strep again 2 weeks later. 2 weeks later an ear infection...
...thank god for benefits!

Damn straight. Although I can barely afford mine. . . employer only pays 40% of the premium.
Damn. for me $20 co-pay per visit, $5/15 for meds. $100 for ER visits, waved if
admitted. My 5 year old was a preemie, 3 months early, almost 3 months in
the hospital. Cost? $76,000! 8O I payed $0...I forever won't rip on FedEx.
$47 a week.
$20 copay. . . not sure about meds, probably the same. Includes maternity, too. $1000 per anum deductible.
$130 week. . .
Quote : $130 week. . .
That's a BMW! 8O
It'll get worse when RC chimes in on the GM benefits and what little he paid.
ER usage = $0
Hospital Stay = $0
Doctor Checkups = $0
Anything Medical aside medicine = $0
Muahahha
.....living in Canada = worthless. For everything else, there's Mastercard.
All qualified Canadian schooled & trained doctors working over the border in the U.S. where they can make a killing ...

Trivia..did you know FedEx is the 3rd largest Aircraft fleet in the world? :!:
Well, I've never needed a new heart, or kidney or something like that, nor have I known anyone too either, and I can understand those wait times being long. But for regular admittance they're pretty speedy.
Think the longest I waited in the ER for something that was fairly minor was 1 hour, which is ok with me
rather wait a little longer than get the evil eyes from someone with a 5 inch gash on their forehead *shivers
Hospitals around here promise 30 minutes or less.
Quote : Hospitals around here promise 30 minutes or less.
Key word
Quote : promise
Not live up to
again, I can handle waiting that little bit longer when they take priority cases first
Medical care should not be a first come first serve basis I don't think, it should be based on who is in more imminent danger.
Sorry, wrong choice of word. Guarentee 30 minutes or less.
Average wait time is around 5 minutes. My collarbone I walked in and straight into see a doctor.
Other times I've been to the ER, taking someone there for treatment, they get in normally within 5 minutes still. It's rare that it takes longer then 10-15 minutes to get in.
Though, for 300,000 people in the city and 550,000 all encompassing, we have like 7 or 8 hospitals al within 15 minutes of at least 2 others.
Good point, my city has 3, only 2 with ER's
He He He ... Jersey city or Newark ...
Unless;
A: Your heart is stopped
B: Your holding a severed limb
C: Your sporting a bullet in your chest or head
Good luck getting out of the waiting room within an hour...
And while we're at it might as well take a leak when you take a dump.
