I'm using a Linksys WMP54G wireless adapter on a computer in my kitchen
(WinXP Home Edition) and I had a little trouble getting it to work! I tried
several things (Windows wireless network wizard, set up a home network,
etc.), finally I did something right and it's been working perfectly for 2
or 3 weeks now, problem is: The Linksys monitoring program isn't my default
monitoring program, it's using the Windows monitoring program. At one point
when I opened the Linksys monitor, I got a splash screen telling me that it
wasn't the default monitor but would I like to make it so (a la Captain
Picard), so I said yes, but it didn't work, and I don't get that splash
screen anymore when I open the program. How do I fix this (change the
default monititor), any ideas?

Thanks all!

Go into the properties of the Wireless adapter and uncheck that you
want windows to manage your wireless configuration. If that does not
work, try going into the Services and turn off Wireless Service for
WIndows. I forget exactly what its called. Let me know how you make
out.

I would let the windows monitoring program run the card. I have a Linksys
USB adapter in my system and I let Windows monitor run. IT seems to handle
the network better.
You should have a icon in the right hand side of the task bar. Right clik on
this icon and chose to let windows monitor the adapter

I went into Device Manager, right-clicked on my Linksys adapter and chose
"Properties", but there wasn't a box to 'uncheck'! No big deal, I can still
open the Linksys monitoring program if I want to, and I've always believed
in the philosophy "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" :-) It's just that
things didn't work the same on this PC, as it did when I installed a Linksys
adapter on my laptop! Thanks for your help, but I can live with it!

Im sorry, I should of specified going into the Wireless Adapter
properties in Network Conections. That way you can disable Windows from
controlling it. I know that Windows has issues controlling Wireless
Connections especially if there is another interface that can control
it. Go to your Netwrok Connections screen, right click on your Wireless
Adapter connection and choose properties. You will see the the option
to disable Windows from controlling Wireless connection.
