I removed an empty ink cart. from my printer several months ago and
never replaced it. Will a new cart. work now after all this time?
Thanks, Ted in Mich.

Some printers are built differently, and for some the entire ink system
is removed when the cartridge is removed.

For these printers, no problem.

It would be nice if you could state what printer you have, you know.

The cartridges for the DeskJet 648 have the printhead included. If you replace
the cartridge you will get a new printhead.

What type of printer do you have?

If it is the majority of HP, Lexmark and some of the older Canon with an
integrated head in the cartridge, the printer will not be harmed in any
manner from being without a cartridge in it.

However, if it is an Epson or newer Canon, or one of certain HP business
printers, the head may indeed be integral to the printer and the head
will almost definitely be badly clogged. That doesn't mean it can't be
unclogged, but it is rare that just replacing the cartridge will fix it,
without other cleaning.
