What is really sad is that THG ignored the 2 most common burner makers.
Liteon may well be the best available today, while LG isn't far behind, and bothe have a lower price tag for similar models.

Yes, those are good. They should have sent free samples out.

I'm going to be doing a review for another site, of inexpensive hard drives, for the upgrade/repair of older systems. In fact the entire article will focus on low-budget, high-value, for old-tech systems. Now, I contacted all the manufacturers, which one do you think is NOT sending a drive.

Will the readers hold it against the site if a popular brand isn't included? Maybe, but I'm certainly not going to BUY their drive, I don't have the budget for such expenditures.

In fact, THG doesn't know jack about doing burner reviews. Compare THG reviews with CDfreaks, CDRlabs reviews and you'll see the difference.

Speed is the one of the least important factors when it comes to reviewing a dvd burner. Nobody would care about few seconds difference in burning time, but burn quality and media compatibility will always matter.

You guy's are getting annoying. They never set out to show which was the best, only which was the fastest. The guide's entire focus was speed. If your not interested in which is the fastest, then dont read it. End of story.

That's so true. Very good point.

How does this review thing work? Do the manufacturers get their products back after the review or does the reviewer keep them? lol... :D

Reply to kool_moo

Some leave them, others take them back. It depends on whether or not they want their product to be available for future articles.

IMO, this article sucked. Like someone said eariler, they didn't eve review the two most popular burners sold: LG and Lite-On.

Additionally, they must not have looked very hard when it came to finding DVD-R DL media. Here's 4 websites that sell it. Took me 30 seconds to find it on pricewatch.

Hitachi is easy, no problems there!

Then I would say WD.
