Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsnt.setup (More info?)
It is highly recommended that you don't rename the PDC.
Doing so will also rename the Domain which is not normally
possible without reinstalling the server.
The workstations will also have to be rejoined to the
Domain once this is done.
There is a third party tool you can use to change the
name, but do this with great risk. Make a complete backup
first and shutdown all the workstations as well. If
possible your first step should be to delete the
Workstation accounts in the SAM, the name of the tool
escapes me.
