I saw a post here about a freeware F4U7 for FS2004 available at Avsim. I
downloaded it, and it looks like a great. The 2d and virtual cockpit are
as nice as I've seen.

The problem is that I can't get the darn thing off the ground. I've
applied as much rudder trim as it will let me, some aileron trim, and tried
adding power slowly. I even tried a little diff braking, but I keep
spinning off the runway to the right.

As anyone here figured out this beast yet.

Keith

PS - I recently purchased the Wings of Power P51 and it is awesome. I
recommend it highly. Maybe I'll grab their B-17 next.

Presume you have not got a cross wind ?

Try lowering the fuel load,

Sailorman,
I just downloaded & installed the patch for this aircraft (cof4ufix.zip)
from Avsim.com, and it does indeed fix the excessive torque problem for this
Corsair. Its still not easy, and you have to be careful, but at least now it
is possible to take off. God, what a gorgeous aircraft! The patch also
includes 2 new Marine Corps skins. I highly recommend this aircraft for
anyone who likes WWII vintage aircraft. The panels are excellant, the VC is
excellant, the sound is excellant. I am VERY impressed!

I seem to remember, way back, that there was a "fix" addition to
an F4U that corrected that problem. I can't remember if it was
for the same model but I know I initially had the same problem
you are having. Have another pass at the Avsim library, searching
for a fix.

Paul,

Thank you sir. There is a patch for this at Avsim. The file name is.

cof4ufix.zip

I haven't tried this yet, but it should be what I need. Thank you
everyone.

I agree totaly with Randy's assessment. The Marine Corp model makes one
lovely desktop picture as well.
The elevator trim speed was a little slow for me so I increased it from 0.5
to 1.5 in the aircraft config file and now it's perfect. A real delight.

Like i do! When i first saw this model, i couldn't
believe it's freeware. Maybe the artists who made
this for our pleasure, would appreciate some nice
comments via mail.

Why can't I find it on there? I've searched the library, and they return a
blank result...

It's sometimes a bit tricky to find a file at avsim... (at least to my
experience) ;-)
Got to the AVSIM file library and click "Extended search". Enter
"corsairf4u7.zip" for the A/C and "cof4ufix.zip" for the fix. Wildcards are
also allowed. That shouldn't give you any problems to find and download the
file.
Good luck! ;-)))

"As real as it gets" has somewhat passed you by, hasn't it.

Thanks, hadn't even seen the extended search before. Found it right away.

Hi Steve,
You are right in a sense. I love real life flying as a PPL, I also love FS9,
I think it's great. But no way can I pretend that it is like real flying, so
I don't even make the effort. I get such pleasure out of it as a piece of
computer entertainment. I could NEVER waste my time going through a genuine
start-up, procedure for an aircraft for example. But I know that many other
people do, and that is the joy of the program. It is versatile enough for us
all to enjoy it in our own way...I use the slew more than anything else to
get where I want quickly.
Thanks for the chance to make this point again :)

Cheers,

Quilly
