Hi!

Kind of in a jam......need some help......
I have a operating system deployment server that performs
network unattended installations of NT4 Server, W2K, and
W2K03. The boot disk I have been using is formatted in
DOS7.0. I just changed the diskette and formatted it in
DOS7.1 because DOS7.1 has support for FAT32. The install
works for W2K and W2K03 but when I do a load of NT4 Server
it gives me an error stating setup cannot install Windows
NT Loader. For the NT4 load, I formatted the partition
with FAT16 but I still get this error. Does DOS7.1
support FAT16 and 32 and compatible with NT4 Server?

Thanks for your help!

MS-DOS7.x supports any FAT. DOS isn't compatible with any NT OS (damn, the
answer is equal to the question :). NT4 and it's predecessors doesn't
recognize FAT32.

Replace MBR before NT4 setup (fdisk /mbr).

Hi......Thanks for the response. I guess I should have provided more detail
to explain my problem cause I don't think I gave you the whole picture. I
actually built a boot diskette and formatted in PC DOS7.1. I use that boot
disk to boot to my deployment server and run the unattend script. The last
line that runs is the winnt.exe to launch the NT4 Server unattended setup and
that is when I get the error that setup cannot load Windows NT Boot Loader.
I actually found the error message on Microsoft's website(link is below), but
it tells me NT doesn't support FAT32. I am formatting the partition as FAT16
using GDISK. I hope this paints a better picture. Thanks again for your help

Never had any problem with Ghost but I would use MS utilities only as a part
of troubleshooting.
