Can I run gf6600gt w/300psu? Could I damage something if I do? They state at least 350 psu, but all isn't as said sometimes? I'm going to run it with 3200 semptrom 64 . Is that enough cpu?Would I be better off with athlon 64 2800? thoughts please, budget is a concern obviously Tia Steve

A 350 watt power supply won't cut it, simple. If you have the budget - I highly recommend that you go out an buy a 400-500 watt power supply. If you don't, it will most likely come back to bite you in the butt when your current PSU dies.

You can run it with a 300W PSU. It is not the wattage that is important. The important thing is your PSUs +12V ampere. A good 300W is better than a poor 500W PSU. Check the +12V ampere and post it here.

Those are the numbers. 15A isn't very good but will probably do but since I've never heard of those manufacturers it could be a poor PSU and it could damage your system it the long run. Although the most likely thing to happen is the PSU failing before any damage occurs.

I've always got my PSU s with a cheapo case and has never been an issue but with this video card they are an issue, I'm gonna spend 134 on the card and 76 on a gig of cosair, I really don't want to spend more than 50 but I dunno.

Rosewill is kind of a low-cost 3rd tier manufacturer of various parts (cases, RAM, PSUs, etc.). From what I see at NewEgg.com, they're at least semi-reliable.

eMachines is a retail brand of PC that you can buy at stores like Best Buy. I believe they're owned by Gateway. Very, very cheap pricewise, but the one my friend bought (2.0 Ghz Celeron system for like $300) is still running after a year so they can't be all that bad quality-wise. ;).

Had the rosewill case for a yr would recommend but not so sure on the power I think the combo was like 34 dollars. Just bought the emachine 3200 semprom 100 gig 256 ram and a burner for 224. Perfect for my 9yr old but I believe it's upgradeable which is a plus. They use a standard microatx and that's good news. I will add ram and maybe a video card

Wow, a retail box that came with a Sempron chip? AMD is making some progress after all.

PS Down with the Intel hegemony!

Guys I just put a new psu and a evga 66000gt into my ecs, but it stinks dusty like. I can't determine the heat of the chip. I don't know if coolbits is ok with driver I have ver8.1.9.8. This is the psu I bought recommended here

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104952

Everything thing seems to running ok except for the dust issue. I just put in a new mobo so I assumed most part are clean. Any thought? Could I have srewed the hardware attachment? PSU? I have the open grid on the inside of psu facing dn, so it can breath right? Tia Steve

You mean it smells? That's normal. It's difficult to describe, but new power supplies will give off a smell for a few hours.

It's been a few days but I think the smell is diminishing, wow this card really flies, unreal graphics on cod2 and fear, but I've notice some motion sickness. There is a grid at the bottom of the PSU, that should face dn to bottom of the case right? tia steve

I don't know. If there are vents in the unit they shouldn't be pointed at the top of the case, so I assume you have it installed correctly. The smell is normal.
