Frame difference: wide and narrow places... x700 related?

First of all, happy and healthy new year to all :)))
I need your help here. In some games (one of them: Lineage 2 C3) I noticed that when I "look" at narrow areas i get a ~ 80-90 fps, but it is possible to get ~30fps or less when I "look" at wide or long places (even when the whole area is loaded from the HDD and IDE activity stops). Is this a problem with the x700, cpu or something else? I red in a review that some places need "more" cpu and other places "more" gfx card. I'm planning to change or add a part (or parts if needed) in my rig and I need your advice in order to have better performance or even to reduce this wide-narrow framedrop.
Current rig:
Intel Celeron D 341 (2.93GHz)
Chipset 915GL
RAM DDR1 @ 400MHz 512MB
ASUS EAX700 DDR1 256MB @ PCIe

Thnx for reading, and thnx in advance ^^

you framerate drops because both your cpu and graphics card have to work harder to produce the wider space, for example in a tunnel the ammount of surfaces that your computer has to render are significantly smaller than in wide open spaces. 30fps is perfectly respectable and playable, only when it drops below 20 does it become noticably choppy.

For a good gaming experience you should add 512MB of memory and upgrade your video card.

adding more memory would help a lil, but a new graphics card you definately help, something like an x1800 would easilly cope with wide spaces, altho it is a lil costly

X850XT PE is the best. But I think the X850XT for less than $300 is a better buy. Or a X850 Pro VIVO and flash it into a X850XT PE.

I looked at the benchmarks links...
I felt the scroll wheel of my mouse scrolling harder and harder as i was going down the graphs to the last x700 and x600. Thnx guru u opened my eyes.
If you read on the newspapers something that looks like this: "2 geforce 7800gtx and a high quality 2x pcie slots mobo were stolen from a big PC store",well that will be me.
