Hi I'm kind of a newbie here, but I'm trying to boot my an NT pc and just as
it loads winnt.exe it gives the message that the 'Computer is safe to
shutdown'. Any clues on what's going on? I've tried booting in safe mode,
but it does seem that the operating system thinks it's always shutting down.

Thanks,

Will

This may be a misconfigured HAL.
Try disabling the ACPI or IPCA feature on your PC (unless you have other OSs
installed on it.
You may have selected the wrong HAL during Setup. Just allow NT Setup to
Select the HAL. Using F4 and selecting the wrong HAL may cause this problem.

Although I'm confused....
If you're loading WINNT.EXE, are you attempting to start Windows NT Setup from
MS-DOS? (D:\i386\WINNT.EXE)
Or are you referring to NTOSKRNL.EXE? (The Windows NT Kernel Executable that
inits the HAL? C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\NTOSKRNL.EXE)
