Opteron vs Althon X2 for Graphics Workstation

I was going to order a workstation for CAD and some editing. I was wondering what would be a better CPU. A Opteron or Althon X2 +4800. The motherboards that I was probably going to get an Asus A8N32-SLI Dlx with the Althon or a Tyan Thunder? with the Opteron. I will be running either Maya 7 or Softimage and Avid HD. Thanks

Opterons are workstation CPU's, so it would be a better choice, and pricewise are the same, give or take 20 bucks, even tho they are pretty much the same bird.
