I have removed the panel and removed the inverter (?) light/lamp/ccfl
but am not sure if the lamp is burned out.
I thought I would get some input from the forum if that is the problem.
Has anyone else had this problem?
After pressing the FN key a menu does come up--you can faintly see the/a menu when I use anle the beam of a flash light.
Can someone tell me if that may be the problem.
Can some one help?

If ou get no backlight, then the first thing I would replace is the lamp. It could be other circuitry (just like when a light bulb blows in your house it could be the wiring - but it is 99.9999~% likely it is the bulb.)
