OC a Sempron 3000 + 2GHz?

I am getting this computer sometime soon, and I was wondering if this is a socket A or S754? The sale didn't have much information on it.

I was also wondering of my overclocking options, how far can I go on stock coolers and that sort of stuff (FSB, VCore)?

# AMD Sempron 3000+ With 2.0GHz Processor Speed
# 512MB PC2700 DDR memory
# nVidia GeForce4 MX Graphics With 64MB DDR Shared Memory

Is there someway to also push my ram further to overachieve?

Thanks in advance.

PS. What would be different if I was to overclock a Athlon XP 3200 + 2Ghz, is there any expected figures on how high it could reach without using extra coolers? (Just stock coolers) (FSB, VCore)

More about : sempron 3000 2ghz

Is it core palermo or paris?

I have one of them (palermo), and I was aking the same question as you are, I don't plan to buy any additional cooling devices anytime soon and my plans are very humble, get it to work @ 2-2.15Ghz (obviously...without melting xD)

Right now I'm not testing my cpu, but my memory, a couple of Corsair DDR400 Value, they're workin fine @ 2-3-2-6, they're working better than 2-3-3-6@404 Mhz

Testing will continue...

BTW, my cpu is working fine @ 1.2 V (Vcc) instead of the 1.45V (standard)

I thought the Sempron 3000 was a 1.8 GHz. chip? You might want to double check what they are advertising... they may be incorrectly saying it is a 2 GHz. chip (or else they already have it overclocked! 8O

You can do quite a bit of overclocking wth these Semprons with stock cooling. They tend to run pretty cool.

I've just flashed my AN7 with a TicTac Endurance II Bios, now I am pushing a Sempron 3000+ at 2400mhz at 37-45*c on air. 2x256 PC3200, 1x512 PC3200 all D43 Hynix in dual channel, locked 12x multiplier at 400mhz FSB. All running off a crappy 10a 12v rail. Stable for the past 3 hrs so far. The 3000+ is a good old Barton core by the way, and runs at 2gig standard. The 3000+ means it is equivilent to an Intel 3Ghz.

I can get my Sempron 3300 to o.c @ 2.4Ghz, it a palermo, the mb is an ABIT kv8 pro and it supports up to 2Ghz HT, can i get any more out of the CPU or is at its limit.

Any suggestions

that sounds like a K7/AthlonXP (rebadged as a sempron) with a Nforce2 board (integrated geforce4 mx video) - they run at slightly higher clock speeds but are slower clock for clock compared to a K8 (and only the 3000 and 3200 XP's had FSB400 so its FSB333 so that explains the DDR333 ram), so yeah - socket A/AthlonXP based

Athlon xp 2900 + is also 400 fsb.
