People still play that?
More importantly, would NEW players get into that old game? Start from scratch AND pay a monthly fee for that?
IDK, just legitimate questions here, because I for one would not even consider doing that. If they made it free-to-play, I might consider it, although given that the game is ancient, I doubt it.

I have to admit, I loved the trailer.

I'll wait on Titan, actually.

WoW is not a bad game in any stretch, but I got bored of not finding a decent guild to play with and have fun. Also, got tired of scripted fights; that's what really turn me down I guess.

Cheers!

As a player who stopped playing before any expansions were released I certainly couldn't see myself going back now. I imagine that most places in WoW are now simply abandoned by players with key focuses on worth while places only. EverQuest shared this same fate where so many expansions eventually entire continents were like ghost towns and you could spend a week on them and not see another player.

A aged and expanded MMO is not welcoming to new comers or late returners. People should just check out the newer ones or ones soon to be released.

Not excited about MoP (1st time I haven't been excited about a WoW Xpack), and frankly, while I expect Titan to be a technical marvel, I'm tired of the stories the developers are telling. Same devs, same old themes, some that started in Diablo. Not excited about Blizzard, which I think is "over the hill" and on the decline.

Thankfully, Gearbox has created a gem called Borderlands, and Borderlands 2 will come out Sept. 18 (in the U.S.). Gearbox is a company that's still excited about their games; if you've ever heard CEO Randy Pitchford talk about Gearbox games in general and Borderlands 2 specifically, you know what I'm talking about. BLT looks to be better than the original in every way you can imagine - including graphics on the PC. PC players aren't getting just a port this time, they are getting the good stuff that can only be done on a PC.

So, come September I'll be excited, but this time it'll be for a "RP Shooter" called Borderlands 2, not the WoW Xpack and not an MMOG.

Yeah I'm not ashamed to admit WoW used to be quite incredible during its vanilla and towards the end of TBC. Just pure gold really. The lore was spot on and something every player coming from Warcraft 3 felt connected and had a sense of. The game had soul throughout that same period and then it just stopped losing it when WOTLK hit. It got about 5 million subscribers for what seem to be a blink of an eye. RIP WoW 2004-2008.

Yes! I tottaly agree with you Bordelands is a pure Gem! I was sick of the MMO style, Bordelands brought the multi-player to a level of pure pleasure! I don't care if 1 or 2 millions people are playing at the same time than me on the same map. However the multi-player on Borderlands, limited to 4 people, per map gave me so much fun!
September 22 (I'm european), I'm waiting for you!

I honestly don't get the hate over World of Warcraft, and I'm getting tired of hearing it, yes maybe it has gone down hill, but who cares?

Who are we to judge others because they enjoy something? I sure love WoW, used to play it like crazy!

I got tired of playing it though after the fourth 80; or something like that. I can honestly say that I do long to play it again, nostalgia over all the good and bad times; I lived another life in that game.

A lot of people are hating on it just for the sake of hating on it, sadly. And there are people hating on it just because its the best selling/mainstream MMORPG. I know people want to see new MMOs, but the fact is that no matter how hard another MMO tries to take down WoW, it will fail miserably. The only people who can kill the freakish success of WoW is Blizzard themselves. I also think that the MMORPG market has already seen its peak business because of this game, leaving players exhausted of MMORPGs at this point. I could be wrong, but I really don't see new MMORPGs taking off very well because of this. MMORPGs started and died with WoW.

i wanted to play warcraft for a while, and every now and than its an itch i want to scratch, but paying over 100$ for the game is insane to me... everquest, when it wasn't f2p every expansion gave you all the old content for free... thats how an mmo should be and how you can justify a full price expantion.

A couple months ago I tried playing it when they offered the F2P up to level twenty, and got terribly bored after an hour, and had to uninstall. During that one hour I had no fun and forced myself to play the entire time. I had a subscription back in 2006 and I have been wanting to get back into it, but I wasted almost 10% of my 250gb Comcast bandwith downloading this game, 24gb (i think).

I still play Warcraft 3 on occasion, and if they made a Warcraft 4 non-mmo, then I would buy it.

A surplus stock of digital downloads? lol.

If Blizz wants me to come back to WoW, they'll have to sell the expansion for less than $20 and drop the standard monthly fee to $10... and they'll have to do so before release because I definitely do not want to play catch-up in mid-expansion - getting back into decent raiding guilds after falling one content patch behind is very frustrating.

If you don't like WoW then you probably don't like any MMO's. I've played them all and there's not much difference than the culture and world.

Borderlands 2 going to be much different than the first or is it just the same game with more story and maps? I'm just bitter that most games are just console ports with no improvements taking advantage of PC advancements. Which explains why most PC gamers actually look forward to the PS4/Xbox720. They'll finally take advantage of the raw power offered by a dual-core cpu and 5770/GTX460.

Not gonna lie I LOL'd at work... and got strange looks from around the office.

And I'm not sure why people hate WoW either. It almost seems like it is the current fad to hate WoW. Just like it is a fad to hate Apple, when 5-10 years ago people didn't even care about Apple. Almost seems like it is human-nature to hate those that are on top of the totem pole.

I still play WoW--not religiously--but I still play it. And I am not alone... even though it is 8 year-old game and they numbers have recently dropped, WoW is still the most-played MMO by a long shot.
This sale seems like a good way to get new people into the game. Unfortunately, I know several old guildmates who still play non-stop that are using this sale in combo with Recruit-a-Friend to level their pandas. Kind of a shame to abuse the system like that, but in the end it doesn't affect me or my characters--so why should I care?

I left the game last year after a 4-years run, but I'll admit I miss it once in a while.

I think a major problem with WoW is that he became a victim of it's own success. Hardcore gamers were begging for more, so Blizzard became pumping out content in quantity instead of quality. Before, we had a chance to explore and live the lore of the game. Now it's just a race from point A to point B to reach the cap level.

I said it before and I'll say it again, they need to find a way to revive old content and make it relevant again instead of releasing a bunch of new crap.

Account thefts/hacks, gold spammers, subscription based, mob campers and gold miners

My account was hacked and my brother wanted to know why I didn't respond to his chat. I said my account is still voluntarily suspended. So I tried and was able to log into my account to find someone else paid a months premium. after bringing this to the GM's attn. I was refunded all my loot that was stolen and told in an email to log in to claim my stuff as it would only last 30 days in the mail. I did so and logged off. A few weeks later I get an email saying my account is delinquent. They refunded the hackers payment and I have to pay for the time I used the account to reclaim my stolen stuff. So I would need 2 months payment just to login.

Apparently they are dillusional!!
