ok, I currently have an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe and it is giving me some major problems. I finally have the chipset fan-of-death problem, and for some reason I can't update my bios. I have tried everything.

The problems have made me start thinking about picking up a different motherboard.

I would really like to keep most of my hardware: CPU, definitely my video card, and maybe memory.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 fx55 and an ATI x850 PCI Express. Any Suggestions?

You could also forego remaining grief and go for the FOXCONN NF4SK8AA-8EKRS at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 813186062. This is a good and stable board. Maybe not a great overclocker, but not bad. With all due respect to the Asus fanboys, we've not found them to be the best value over the years. We have done well with Foxconn boards over the last few years. Just food for thought.

I am no Asus fan anymore as i have gone through 5 motherboards (A7v8x then Asus switched me to A7n8x) in one computer all mobo failure and all other parts have been tested to ensure they are not the problem. So if you are looking for a good mobo i recomend the MSI K8N Neo 4 - Platinum or Diamond board. Great features, Good performance, good overclocking, and easy to use.

I think it is all preference. If the Northbridge fan is the only hiccup in your motherboard, upgrade to either of these. They use a pipe rather than a fan and ASUS is still the best out there. Dont go with MSI I have had nothing but problems with all the MSI boards I have had. Finally, I have had major success with ASUS and their customer service is excellent compared to others such as MSI, DFI, etc...
