I have a terminal server serving connections for total 25 users over 3
different vsat sites. The connections are through l2tp tunnelling done on
cisco routers. all switching equipment in LANs and data centers is cisco.

I installed a second site this time wireless broadband specifically Alvarion
Breezeaccess OFDM with bandwidth of 512kbps. When I try to connect to the
terminal server, the session initiates but cant display the desktop, I get a
black screen, I can usereal vnc alright right through to the server but I
cant initiate a remote desktop connection,
mrtg on the link shows me max utilization of 13kbps

I set up a separate server today but still no luck,
I dropped the tunnelling and still no luck !

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Q. Sometimes when I connect to my terminal server, I see a black
screen. Why does this occur?

A. This typically occurs if there is a device between the client
and the server that is receiving packets but not passing them on.
One way around this problem is to change the MTU size for the
network adapter that is being used as a terminal server connection
to clients.

Ethernet uses a maximum MTU size of 1500. You can start with 500
and then slowly move up until you notice the problem to find the
correct value to set

Hi!

I had a similar problem. It didn't always occur but often when I tried to
reconnect to a session after typing in the password. I found a value of 1350
(got it once form cisco support). It didn't solve it completely but worked
really a lot better.

Hope this might help?
