New problem this week. After my computer warms up, the screen image deteriorates dramatically. An array of vertical bars, like the columns of a greek temple, suddenly appears. The columns seem to "crawl" vertically.

The mouse cursor picks up a sort of shadow, and unnatural sub-cursor that follows it around.

Changed monitors. Same problem appears after a short warm up period. So it isn't the monitor.

Next thought is the graphics card? It is an ATI 9700 Pro, installed in a Dell, circa 2002. It runs a digital output to a Dell LCD screen.

I also have an ati All in Wonder remote controlled TV.

I can clean up the screen by turning on the TV, but not for long. Pretty quickly the TV picture deteriorates.

Is this a graphics card problem? Or is it more likely the motherboard?

Many thanks for your insights.

Hello, thank you for your reply.

It is a standard power supply included by Dell with their Dimension.

Is this maybe something like a 60 Hz hum, bleeding into the image or messing up the synch?

Thank you for your reply.

I traced the problem to the Radeon 9700 pro. I swapped it out with a Radeon card from another Dell here, and after that, the problem did not reccur.
