HP LaserJet 6P: problems with label printing

I am using Word 2003/Windows XP with an HP LaserJet 6P. Address labels
(Avery C2160) print misaligned. The same labels print OK on an alternative
printer (Canon i560) so I conclude it's a print drivers issue. I understand
that XP has the most recent HP drivers in-built so I assume downloading new
drivers will make no difference. My researches indicate that this is a
known problem but I can't find a solution based around my configuration.

Any ideas anyone?
