Hi, I would like a new gaming rig and I have about $1000 to spend before tax and shipping. I have IDE drives to reuse, monitor, speakers (SB Live! card which I'm not sure will work). So I need a MB, GPU, CPU, Optical, Case and PSU. First time build.

Cpu: AMD 3200+ Venice - Seemed like good price/performance and can be OC'd.

Mobo: ASUS A8N-SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

Ram: CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400

Gpu: MSI NX7800GT-VT2D256E Geforce 7800GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card

Psu Good 400-500W?

Case: Antec - still looking.

I might overclock - jury is still out. Any differences if I did?

Thanx.

Case: check out Cooler Master Centurian. I have one and am very pleased with it.

Video card: look at eVga 7800 GT CO (model 517). It has a copper heatsink and is factory overclocked. Also, lifetime warranty. Runs about $319.

PSU - Everyone says Enermax. If even thinking about going to SLI in the future, get at least a 550 W PSU.

It's a good setup with lots of upgrade potential as time goes on. Heck, a year from now, you could drop in and FX-60 and basically get a whole new computer.
