Hmmmm...The news here in Atlanta today is that Delta is trying to save a
few dollars by outsourcing 2000 maintenance jobs. It doesn't make me feel
better when I see this sort of thing.

This is a pretty ancient picture, and the story supplied has little to do
with the events that actually transpired. I'll see if I can dig up the
actual story, but I recall that it WAS flown with the one engine strapped
in place, but NOT on a revenue flight.

I seem to remember a few people in this NG who say it's ok to fly on 3

I guess if you are in China that would be western,...but then if you are in
China, Alaska and the US is "eastern" and if your in LA then China is
"western". Boy, wonderful things, these Globes,...it's like walking into a
round gain bin and trying to sit in the corner....

Why couldn't they just let the earth stay "flat" and left well enough alone,
instead of letting Columbus go and mess it all up.

Actually, that's what British Airways says (and does):

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/03/04/ba.jet.ap/

Probably the reason they don't come with 3 engines is that people would
then fly them with 2, 1, 0...

Whenever someone is "bashing" or "complaining" about something they call
"western" it's what I always assume they mean.

KLM is Dutch and considered to be in 'Western Europe' as opposed to

Canada is a western industrialized nation....abeit we are a smidge short of
glorious. We are nice though......we take a lot of Chinese people in and
adopt them as our own.....and we do SO love their money....and their food.
I really don't care about their airlines. I have enough of a problem coping
with our own just staying in business. (I should try to be nice. I'm
flying Air Canada in a few weeks and I don't want to hex them). : )

Canada, oh Canada. I have never been there but I was right across the
river. Gabriella had to get a special VISA For the US which allowed her
to stay here and get married. We drove to Niagara Falls for the
honeymoon, well, half-a-moon maybe. Gabriella's Mom came from Germany
to the wedding and of course she had to go with us. And our dog Rogue
was the best dog at the wedding so she had to go also.

Picture this. Rogue wasn't allowed to cross into Canada so I kept her
while Gabriella and her mom went across on a tour bus. On the return
trip the immigration officer told her that with her VISA, she was not
allowed to leave the US until after her Green Card was issued. Legally
she was not allowed to come back into the US and had to find a way to go
back to Germany and start the process all over. But, when immigration
heard her story, that she was on her honeymoon, with her mom, and the
husband back at the motel with the dog, they couldn't stop laughing long
enough to stop her. They allowed her to re-enter the US.

This story sounds familiar, boB. Was it on an earlier thread a long time

Interesting lists. Taking a look at first glance, it seems that airlines
from the former Soviet Union and China Airlines from Raiwan are on the top
of the list. Bvt we shovld realize that the the former SU really covers a

And let's not forget that KLM still has a pretty good trackrecord.
Heck...the last accident they had was the one in Tenerife back in '77.
They're going on 30 years without fatalities.

Okay...there was minor landing problem at Heathrow a few years ago with an
F-50, but no one got hurt.
