Hello,

Me having ATI 9800XT 256MB for around a year now and recently me facing some graphics problems.

In most of the games, irrespective of settings(low/medium/high), the outline in any object gets black/white Zig-Zag lines running through them and as I move in game it gets even more dark & noticeable.

I am having this problem in almost every other game, but I am attaching the pics from BF2 & HL2, so that you can get an idea of what exactly I am speaking about.

Things tried to solve this problem:
Switched drivers
Cleaned entire card
Enable/Disable AA and AF,
Vertical sync,
Resolution changes

Note: I have never overclocked the card.

The card is fitted into the slot properly and there is no connection problem.

Any ideas, whats causing this ?

Other than the mis-speaking, mpjes-dude is correct. All video cards do this. If it really bothers you than you need a fast enough video card to run aa. Anti-aliasing puts quite a load on your video card. Another way to get "free" aa is to use a VGA cable instead of a DVI cable. DVI is technically better but it is more harsh.

...Enable/Disable AA and AF...
This is the setting that can correct the problem. Did you enable it in game or with the drivers? Even if AA is shown to be on in game it can still be off if it set to off in the driver (guess how I know this?).

You don't need a link, try it yourself. A VGA cable blurs the images somewhat making it look smoother but less sharp/clear. This is common knowledge.

well,

Those screenshots were taken using 1280x1024 Resolution + AA and AF turned ON, So there cant be any AA/AF problems here.

Can anybody tellme if the same happens with your graphics card too ?

You can check in BF2: The map is "Operation Clean Sweep" and the Spawn Point used in the screenshots is the Airstrip of US near the Aircraft hanger.

In HL2: Insertion Point right after starting an New Game. You can check for these lines in the train compartment.

Dude you have AA problems, period. Check the settings in your driver, they will be OFF so it does not matter if the game says they are ON. Turn AA on in your driver. AF will not help this problem BTW. The pics your posted were a classic, textbook case of aliasing needing to be AAed.
