Real voter fraud

To answer your question: Yes it probably would help prevent this kind of fraud. Now we just need to convince Holder that it is widespread and this is perfect to do so.

Nope, no one does because no matter how many threads are made no one has yet to make a compelling case that voter fraud happens frequently enough to punish the 11% of voting age citizens who have no photo ID.

You know the Republican mantra, "If they don't vote for us they don't deserve to vote".

Another example of voters getting screwed. ID's would not have helped here either.
In the YouTube video (above) a person exits a Safeway grocery store while recording a young woman who is registering voters outside the store. The young woman asks the exiting grocery shopper, "Are you voting for Romney or Obama?"

The shopper responds, "Well, wait, I thought you were registering voters a minute ago."

To which the young woman replies, "I am." The shopper recording then asks, "Well, who are you registering? All voters?"

"Well, I'm actually trying to register people for a particular party. Because we're out here in support of Romney, actually," the young woman registering voters says.

"And who is paying you for this?" The shopper asks.

"We're working for the County Clerk's Office," the young woman replies with some hesitation and confusion.

Nearly 1 in 5 people over 65 have no valid government issue photo ID. Not to mention voter ID laws tend to just deter people from voting.

Even if its just 1-3% of voters not being able to vote thats still millions of people. Considering there have been 150(?) cases of voter fraud ever. this seems seems a bit extreme.

This is a good example of how voter protection already works.

For instance, if a fraudster actually did go vote for Holder, and then Holder himself went to vote later in the day, he would discover he could no longer cast a regular ballot but would have to fill out a special ballot.

Special ballots are always counted, regardless of whether they could affect the outcome of the election ... Each special ballot is subject to inspection and challenge from the candidates. During that process, election officials can look at public records -- including signatures on poll books and voter registration forms -- to determine whether a ballot is genuine. If fraud is suspected, the Board of Elections and Ethics can refer the case to federal prosecutors for further investigation.

From the Brennan Center:
[E]vidence from the microscopically scrutinized 2004 gubernatorial election in Washington State actually reveals just the opposite: though voter fraud does happen, it happens approximately 0.0009% of the time. The similarly closely-analyzed 2004 election in Ohio revealed a voter fraud rate of 0.00004%. National Weather Service data shows that Americans are struck and killed by lightning about as often

Besides what Idiot would risk a felony charge for just 1 vote?

ALL STATES HAVE SOME FORM OF VOTER ID LAWS! NO EXCEPTIONS!

Requiring a photo ID should not even be an issue.

Only 14 out of 50 states require a government issued photo ID to vote. 14 out of 50! Pennsylvania doesn't even count because the judge ruled the law will not go into effect until after the November 2012 election. So, technically, only 13 states require photo ID to vote!

The real joke of all this photo ID hoopla is that the 13 states that require photo ID are not even any of the states that are considered the "toss-up/battleground" states.

Any notion that photo ID requirements are going to disenfranchise voters or swing the election in favor of Romney or Obama is a total load of crap!

Lastly, We live in a Republic! The definition of republic is; a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them. Therefore, only United Stated citizens should be allowed to vote!

Again, this raises the SSN issue I brought up.

In the state I reside, we have a different approach that requires no photo ID:

1) Go to a local USPS or courthouse and get a 5x6 card that is legal paper for voter registration.

2) fill out the card with:

Name
Address
SSN
Citizenship Questionnaire

3) Mail.

4) You will receive a voter ID #

5) When the election comes around, you will be mailed a packet supplied by the state. Fill out information that same way as registering+ voter # + who you elected.

6) Mail.

7) Wait and pray/cross fingers that your guys gets in office.

No need for photo ID, no need to worry about foreigners voting, no worries of discrimination against citizens.

Like we didn't have fear and paranoia around national security before...we are the most paranoid nation in the world. Just look at our budgets for the military/DOD/etc....

Your forgot about our expansions to our prison system as well, have to have plenty of prisions for our Police State.

Oh snap! YOU'RE RIGHT, thanks! I forgot about that; our man G. W. Bush and his big push to privatize the prison system.

That's what I get for being distracted by the FEMA death camps.
