We are running windows 2000 Terminal server, I have read the artical
on the multifunction printers using DOT port but our problem is the
client thinks the printer is off line. I have made the registry
change for filtering on the client and now recieve constant print jobs
from the server and the client still thinks the printer is off line.
It seems that all print jobs that were unsucessfull are constently
being sent to the client for printing where they just sit in the print
queue.

What printer model?
Is it natively supported by Windows 2000 or have you A) mapped this printer
to a nitive driver or B) installed the manufacturer's driver

The Printer is a Cannon MF5550 and is supported on the 2K server. We
have conneted the printer directly to the server and it works fine.
The other issue is all the printer stops working, jobs are sent to the
client queue but never print.
Multi-function printers often cause problems. This Multi-function printer
absolutely is NOT natively supported on Windows 2000 or 2003, i.e. you must
install the manufacturer's drivers, which often do NOT work in a Terminal
Server environment. In TS & Citrix speak, supported means the driver is
built into the OS. Just because a driver exists for the server OS does NOT
mean it is certified for TS or Citrix, as they are often NOT tested for
multi-user use.
I'd try mapping the printer to a HP LaserJet 4 or some basic functionality
Canon Laser Printer Driver. Mapping instructions here:

Yes you have the correct printer. How do I remove the drivers from
the server which were installed using add printer have disk.
I will try to map the printer to a basic cannon laser printer which I
assume there are native drivers for.
Can you tell me why the server is constantly queing print jobs to the
client?
Thanks for you help

To remove any printer drivers which you do not want on your server, go to the
Printers & Faxes Control Panel applet -> File -> Server Properties -> Drivers
-> Select & delete the ones you don't want loaded.
I'd highly recommend loading 3rd party drivers ONLY when nothing else works,
when absolutely necessary, and only after testing in a lab environment.
