I have a couple of office supply stores close (Staples & Office Depot). I stop in occassionally to pick up paper and small time supplies that aren't worth "shopping" around for.

I needed a new can of anti-static compressed air to blow out the insides of PC's. Both Staples and OD had raised the price to over $10 for a 10 oz can! Are you serious, asking me to pay $10 for a can of air? Kiss my ass.

On the way to pick up some things I stopped in a Walmart. OK, I apologize and did try to sneak in unobserved, but they had 3-M "air" for about $5 for the same 10 oz can. I was surprised with other decent quality components available. They had a Lite-On CD/DVD burner for the same price as Newegg. Now, this isn't to suggest that I will start shopping for computer parts at at "the Walmart" - but, it's an option. Seagate HDD, good quality cables, etc.

Now, I'm not suggesting that you could build a rig out of walmart, but the quality was name-brand and with a 30 day 100% no-questions return policy, might be worth a look (if you can handle the concept of Wal-Mart).

I did find one thing that cracked me up. While sneaking in the back door, I saw an aisle sign that said "Fine Arts" ... at a Wal-Mart? :? Talking about a non sequitur ... 8O

Yeah wal-mart has pretty decent crap in the computer section. They don't have much a selection, but what they do have is halfway decent and competitively priced.

I usually swing by there when i'm shopping just to see if they have any good deals.

It's not canned air. The content is a hydro-fluornated-hydrocarbon. Or HFC for short. It's so expensive because it's classed as a refrigerant. You can thank the damn Kyoto agreement for the ridiculous high price.

They don't state what HFC is used on the can label. But it is the same propellent used in most aerosol sprays. I wouldn't be surprised if it's R134a.

They make ones you can hook up a CO2 cartridge to. Might be something to look into if you use a lot of air.

Unit itself Yeah, $36, but shop around. The CO2 cartridges have to be pretty cheap @ Wat*Fart.

Spend the extra $5 and stay the f*ck out of Walmart. It'll do the country good.

I admit.. the few times I've been in a Walmart I've stopped in their computer section. A year or two ago they would mark down items to insane prices. Want a 80GB hard drive? $10 because no one is buying it. Or CD-Rs/DVD-Rs, really cheap compared to any other places.

I've walked out of Walmart and Target carrying items such a Coleman propane camping grill, normally $60, for $13 after tax. I bought two at the time.. not that I needed two but it was a stupid price. A week later they marked them back up to full price.

They're clueless on certain things there.. managers go around marking stuff down that 'isn't selling' and since the IQ requirement to work there matches that of Piddy's, it's easy to get discounts.

I've never been in a Target store, so I wouldn't know much about what they have, except that I assume they're a lot like walmart.

Reply to Jake_Barnes

lol ya that's pretty ridiculous... yay for a reverse switch on my vacuum, got one of those little hand ones, put on the bristle attachment, give it a little rub, blow off the excess, in extreme cases to I buy a can..

Target really isn't bad..Smaller than Walmart but better stuff I'd say. Most people I know prefer to shop there for most things. A lot of girls I know buy clothes there. Mossimo used to be an expensive brand of clothing but they paired up with Target many years ago and dropped the pricing of their clothes.

"Walmart" over here is "K-Mart"; their prices on certain things are reasonable enough, I suppose.

Sounds like you're getting a good scenario over there, Chief.

I always marvel at the collective American purchasing power. The market forces over there are truly significant.

Coincidently, I got carded buying some compressed air at OfficeMax about 2 weeks ago. Seems that new anti-huffing laws are in effect. The cashier was required to ask me if I intended to use this product responsibly - WTF???

Oddly enough, I bought some PVC cleaner and glue yesterday (which you can get a buzz off of from another room) and wasn't asked a single question.

That is outrageous! It's every low-socio-economic kid's right to huff whatever-the-fock they can get their hands on; especially before they can steal enough to buy crank.

At least you got that PVC shite, eh? You're off your face as we talk, eh?

I'm joking, of course, but not really.

If there's one thing I've come to know in this world, it's this: people love to get off their faces and have unprotected, mindless sex in clubs, pubs and parks.

If that means huffing shite, then they'll huff.

Where are these people when I'm out?

j/k

Seriously, though - there is always going to be something to huff. Strange that they are required to ask if I intend to use air responsibly. I wonder if I answered "no", if it would be illegal for them to sell it to me. :?

I'd huff Ws farts if I thought I could get a high off them. [/ponders]

The minimum dosage of a Ws fart to get high is probably 3mg more than the minimum lethal dose.

Sadly, the cans of airbrush propellent are now over $10.00 as well, so you cant even use those.

Long term, you'll save money, and they're much more versitile than a can of air. My $399 6HP 60 gallon coleman upright has served me well for over 13 years, and long ago paid for itself.

US$5.00 for 10-oz canned air is very very very expensive... You may want to ask for refund from Walmart as you have been over-charged by 40%....
I bought online at www.awdistributing.com for less than $3.00 for 10-oz can, shipping included via UPS.

Come on, have pity on someone who goes around googling for canned air so he can advertise. Can you imagine how boring his life must be.
