Hi,

I was wondering weather anyone has ever had any luck connecting an intel (or
any other make) printserver to an Intermec 3400? We used to run them off
twinax, however we have now removed all the twinax cable and want to run
them off standard cat5e. I've looked into buying an intermal intermec card
for this, however the 3400B will not support this (to old), so my only other
option is to connect it up to a printserver. As the 3400 only has a rs232
port on the back (besides the twinax) I've connected it to the printserver
via a 9-25pin serial cable, I then configured the printserver to the same
settings as the intermec (9600 baud, 7 bits, xon/xoff, even bit parity) but
I can't get any communication going. I even connected the printer to my PCs
com port and set the port settings to that of the 3400, but still no comms.

Can anyone provide any help?

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben

Why not just put twinax/rj45 baluns either end and utilise the twinax connection?

Just put "twinax balun" into google.

Cheers
Neil

There's always the possibility that the comm port is just bad. None of
our Intermec printers ever impressed us with their reliability over the
years.

You can use twinax-to-cat5 baluns to hook up twinax devices over
existing copper connections. But it must be continuous, no switches,
hubs, etc.
