brother mfc 9700, envelopes in lower paper tray

I've got Windows XP, and a brother mfc 9700 with lower paper tray
installed (lt400). I've put 8.5x11 paper in the lower paper tray,
then envelopes in the upper paper tray.

Under control panel, I select printer properties, and I can change the
sizes of installed paper in the upper and lower paper tray, but only
under manual feed can I select size 10 envelopes. I would like to
select size 10 envelopes for the upper tray, and have the default tray
be the lower tray with 8.5x11 paper.

There is a button inside MS Word (office 2k) that is envelope/lables,
and ever time I tell it to print to the upper paper tray, it goes to
manual feed - I want it to not feed an envelope, and take the
envelopes from the upper tray.

Any ideas? Perhaps drivers for XP that have more control or
something?
