registered vs non registered ram?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGISTERED AND NON REGISTERED RAM?

WHAT SHOULD I BUY?

HOW CAN I TELL?

You only need registered ram for some workstation motherboards and servers.
Basic terms the system for registered double checks the contents in the ram to make sure there is no degradation of the info.
What else are you buying?
It will say when you buy, and you will see a big difference in price.

I HAVE AN ATHALON 3800X2 AND ASUS DELUXE MOBO- A8N DELUXE.

SO I THINK I DO NOT NEED REGISTERED, AS NON REGISTERED IS CHEAPER AND WILL WORK FINE.

ANY RECCOMENDATIONS ON MEMORY OR Brands?

I was looking at the crucial ballistix OC memory. Is this any good?
