I got an XFX6800 GS, 3 days ago from www.zipzoomfly, to replace my MSI 6600GT,and what a difference. I scored 2836 on 3dMark05 with the 6600gt,at stock speeds, but the 6800GS blew it away with a score of 4264.
I then overclocked it, and used RivaTuner to unlock the extra 4 pixel pipes, and the 6th vertex pipe, and scored an impressive 5452. That was running at 400mhz for the core and 1100 mhz for the memory. Those are the same speeds as a 6800ultra, and it only cost me$219.00, with free shipping. It is the nv40 core, and I read that Nvidia did a new run of these for the GS. I had read that the retailers where screaming for good AGP cards. As anyone who has shopped around has noticed, the last quarter of 2005, higher end AGP cards where impossible to find. Newegg has them too, but the are a bit more.

what are lod textures?, my graphics look great, no artifacts. Also I ran the benchmarks with anti virus , and steam running in background. Maybe your GTO beats my card, but I dont care. I'm extremely happy with my $219.00 investment, and the difference between the 2 wouldnt even be noticeable in games

But the GTO doesnt handle HDR or pixelshader 3.0 does it?

ive got a 6800GT on AGP and they rock, all this excitment about PCI-E! Bah!

Oh yes the GTO can do HDR, just not OpenEXR. But then again the GF6800GS doesn't 'handle' it either, it gets man-handled by it.
OpenEXR HDR is the only noticeable SM3.0 difference, and it cripples performance so much, it's only a checkbox feature for slideshow.

Yet it's useful ammunition to throw in the face of an ATi user in the graphics card forum wars

............what is that shimmering there off in the distance?........oh, nm, it's Battlefield 2 being rendered on nVidia harware

I ran the Halflife2 lost coast stress test with my 6800GS, got 102 FPS, at 1024 x 768, 2x AA, 4xAF, and that is a demo level to show off HDR. Handles it just fine. That was without unlocking the other 4 pixel pipes, and not overclocked.
