Hi, I am building a new system in which I will be doing multiple functions (gaming, surfing, business, etc.) I will be doing a lot of multitasking also. My budget is $1650 (I am already overbudget but going over by $50 is not a big deal). I do not plan on overclocking the system. Here is my set up.
Case:
Antec Performance I P180
MB:
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
Video card:
eVGA 256-P2-N515-AX Geforce 7800GT 256MB
PSU:
ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
RAM:
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Platinum System Memory
HD:
Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3250823AS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
Floppy:
SAMSUNG Black 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive Model SFD321B/LBL1
DVD burner:
ASUS Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 5X DVD-RAM DVD-ROM: 16X max. (CAV) DVD-RAM: 5X DVD-ROM 40X CD-R 32X CD-RW 40X CD-ROM 2M Cache E-IDE/ATAPI DVD Burner
OS:
Microsoft Windows XP Home With SP2
I am reusing my monitor, keyboard and mouse.
Couple of questions:
Should I get a different DVD burner?
Should I save some money on the RAM since I am not OC'ing?
I have heard that I could have a cooling issue with the MB and case I have chosen, since the MB is fanless and the heat pipe will be going down instead of up. Is this accurate?
No more ram needed.
If I were you I'd buy two smaller hdd. Just in case...
Don“t bother with heat problems, unless you have the "hot ventilator" (did you understand what I ment to say with these words? lol) turned to the case.
Samsung dvd= we never know... $$
Asus=Better than Samsung $$$
BTC dvd=Good one $$
Nec dvd=Great one $$$
Since the P180 puts the power supply in the bottom of the case, I've heard there can be a problem with the power suppy cable (20,24 pin) reaching the connector on the mother board.
The case is fine. The problem with heatpipes is they cannot be mounted upside down(BTX format). The I P180 looks like a normal atx case with the power supply at the bottom of the case.
Stay with the ram you chose its good quality stuff. If you were going to overclock you would buy ram with a higher clock.
No idea on the DVD burner.
