Server goal, create an always on home network, with existing components, for use with 2 network video recorders and a server with large space to host the video. I think I am going to use the celeronD 7500 video with 2 deskstar 80gb and the 200 deskstar Raid-0. the celeron and sempron have similar bench mark results but the hd benchmarks were verry different. The sempron had a 300+ read but the average score 18, the celeron had a medium score of 34 and the athalon had the highest with 15% better cpu and hd 54. is this the right choice for the server? What do you think?
I don’t know if the network bridge on the athalon system will help network speed? All of the network ports are 10/100 but with the brdge on the athalon system uses a 400?? Wiill that help network performance? Any help could save me a headache.

CPU - Amd Athlon 3200
MoBo - FIC au13
Chipset - N-Force 2
Ram - 512+512 dual channel pc3200

With a video card I would go for the ATI All In Wonder 9800 8x AGP. Very powerful card and very usefull for your goals.

Hard Drive - 200gb pata as long as it has a fast seek/write time

thanks for the help. the athalon is my seccond choice and is the best performer of the group but does that mean it will be the best server? i thought that the bus speed of the celeron would be an andvantage.
i will try the athalon first, with 3 of the 80 gig drves and the 200 which will give me .5Tb
