Just wondering if anyone could help me with my choise of upgrade for my pc.

At the moment i have a geforce fx5200le (dont laugh!!!) P4 2.8 ghz and 512mb ddr ram. I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card and possibly ram as currently my game performance is shockingly bad.

I play (or will play) Quake wars enamy terratories (sorry about the spelling) It plays a modded doom 3 engine with better outdoor textures.

Battlefield 2 farcry unreal 2007 etc. i want to run all of these on medium settings (but i dont mind not having dynamic shadows on)

My buget is £85 although i possibly i could stretch to a bit more (no suggesting £115 660gts though. I have Agp 8x motherboard

Also if included in the buget i could get some more ram.

Thanks

Patrick

$210 is over my buget by a fair amount especially once you include the ram. I know its a great card but i just dont have that kind of money.  :(

You could look around for a 4-year old GeForce4 Ti4200, that would be about 3x the performance level of your 5200LE.

If a 6800GS is too much, I've seen 6600GT's avail for as low as $140US...

(You can always add a gig of RAM later)

Sapphire just released the x1600 pro for AGP i would look for that as it is un $200 in the US so it should be around 100 pounds

Don't waste your time on the 6200.  You might be able to get the x1600 AGP if it's available now, that would be roughly equivalent to the 6600GT.  The non-GT 6600 might be able to give you what you are looking for as well.

You should see 4 to 8 times the framerates with the 9700 Pro compared to the 5200LE on your system.

Yes, and you'll be happy with the 9700pro, it's basically the same as 9800pro.

I still use the 9700Pro. So if you got a chance to pick one up, with your bugget, I would!
