Today I had a report that some users were unable to log onto one of my
windows 2000 boxes via TS. I checked everything out and there seemd no
problem - there was a valid windows 2000 licence issued tro the PC
with no finish date. I therefore rebooted the server. After rebooting
I got this in the event log.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: TermServLicensing
Event Category: None
Event ID: 17
Date: 12/05/2004
Time: 10:27:16
User: N/A
Computer: MOLLY
Description:
One or more Terminal Services Licensing certificates on server MOLLY
are corrupt. Terminal Services Licensing will only issue temporary
licenses until the server is reactivated. See Terminal Services
Licensing help topic for more information.

The help topic advises deactivation and then activation but when
trying to deactivate I go tthe following:-

The Licensing wizard encountered an internal arror from the license
server. Message Number: 0xc0110011

Now the status of the Licens server is unkown and when I try and
activate I get the above message.

Many users are still able to log in but a few are not. Can anyone
advise where to go from here.

Internal error 0xc011011
Description: "Database is corrupt" and "Can't add a certificate to
store."

This error message can happen if the terminal server licensing
database has become corrupt.
Usually it requires an uninstall and reinstall of terminal server
licensing.

Thanks Vera - my saviour yet again. do I need to ring Microsoft in
advance of uninstalling, as obviously I shall need to activate the
server once I reinstall it?

Just to be sure, I would phone the Clearinghouse prior to
uninstalling, but it is probably not really needed.

Thanks Vera all OK now.

Clearing house advised that there was no need to ring in advance. Also
it may be useful for anyone following on: when I came to do it tonight
here in the UK the activation centre had closed but I rang the US and
they were able activate the server just as well. It sort of seems
obvious but sometimes the most obvious things aren't the ones that
work.
