Hello!
I am in the process of a new build and am seeking opinions on the AN8 Ultra. It will be used in conjunction with a FX55. I have heard this is a great board but it'll end up costing me ~$200 to get one. What do you think? Can you recommend another option? I am not looking to go with a SLI board but I guess it wouldn't be out of the question if you could recommend a fast and stable one used in a single configuration. Thanks very much for the help.

I just completed a new build with this mobo and it has been absolutely stellar in every respect. Easy install due to great component placement. Love the silent cooling feature - works as advertised. Great BIOS. I made sure all my parts were of excellent quality and had no problems whatsoever. Highly recommend this board as a non-SLI solution.

My specs:

Silverstone TJ-03 Silver
SILVERSTONE SST-ST60F 600W Modular
ABIT AN8 Ultra
Athlon 64 4000+ SanDiego @ 2.75 Ghtz (11x250) 1.47V

2 Gb (2x1GB) OCZ Platinum at 2-2-2-5 1T @ 2.9V
eVGA 7800GTX @ 490/1300
Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 300GB HDD
Plextor PX-716SA / ASUS 16x DVD ROM

Ya there's a guy on ebay that has 'em but he's in England and the board will end up costing ~$225!
Any thoughts on a suitable replacement?

I was planning on using this board for my next build (love the passive NB cooling) and have been waiting on it since just before the new year. I was bummed to see it gone.

I ordered my parts last Friday night and went with the Asus A8N-E. I'll see how loud it is after it's up and running. At that point I'll consider a Zalman NB cooler, or whatnot. :)

Yeh its a shame they have discontinued it.
I have on for my Opteron 146 @ 2.95ghz, as you can see you can do some nice overclocking on it.
Pros: Stable, easy to overclock, feature rich, can controll loads of fans, uguru
Cons: Auto adjusts cpu voltage when overclocking- makes things simpler but i feel its pumping a little more juice than I would like it to, not much more but ah well.
Red lights on the board cant be turned off so you have no choice but red insides if you have a clear side panel

I think its a great board, the uguru is excellent esp allowing different setups with a click of the mouse in windows. I jump from quiet(all fans slow cpu @2.2) to 2.95 (all fans full speed) with a simple click. MAkes using word quiet and games fast.
