my guess is its a power issue, how big is your power supply? it may be too small to keep the proc powered and spin the hd/cd so that it can boot windows... thats my only guess

Although I could try offering a second guess. I guess it's possible that the HSF isn't installed properly and the processor is overheating.
Weird. I'd actually been thinking that, but I couldn't figure out how you'd get as far as you did if that were the problem. Well, glad that you've gotten it solved anyway.
