Hello all,

I'm a newbie to the world of buying laserjets (or any printer costing more
than about £100!) but the office laserjet has finally misbehaved on me one
too many times and I've been given the go-ahead to "just order a new one".

I haven't been given a budget, but fairly obviously I'm looking for the
best value possible, and would prefer something in the £300--£700 range.
The feature that is essential is that it be ethernet-capable, and I have
a personal preference for a duplex printer to save paper (although my
colleagues are less convinced). The defunct printer was an HP 2100TN,
and was rather slower and more prone to paper-jams than would be considered
ideal. I'm generally quite fond of HPs, however, so if there's a particularly
outstanding HP I'd probably go for that. OTOH, do feel free to recommend
other brands if they're obviously better (although from a quick browse of
the newsgroup I guess the answer's not going to be "Lexmark"! ;-))

Have you been to the HP web site and looked at the printers and
technical data there?

If not, then by all means go look at the HP line.

Yes, and my instinct says that I should go for the HP2300DN. Two
friends have independently suggested this model too. I was just
wondering if there was anything cheaper/better value (either HP or
not) that I might have overlooked ...

NOT with the same quality ... I used my earlier model for photo proofing!
At 1200 dpi it's a great image.

Hello,

I would ask you to look at the Konica Minolta mono laserjet models.
I am a printer technican, i.e. i fix them for a living, and through my
knowledge on comparing hp to other printer makes the MINOLTA QMS
models are good for money compared to the hp's and you also get
ethernet as standard on qms printer and not with hp's.

But of course it's up to you the purchaser, www.minoltaqms.co.uk

Take Care

Martin
