Here's the system I'm looking to build, but have a couple questions with it...

ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
If I can get my hands on one...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+

OCZ 2 GB (2x1GB) DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)
Should I go for 4x512MB instead? would it make a diffrence?

2 x: EVGAGeforce 7800GT 256-GDDR-3

WD Raptor 74 GB 10,000RPM

2x: WD Caviar SE16- 250GB 7200PRM (Raided)

OCZ 600W OCZ600ADJSLI ATX12V Power Supply

This will all be put into an HP Pavilion 9800 (customized version), that I've already moded. Link to Photos of mods

Another question I have is about water cooling, should I bother?
Let me know if you have any questions about what i chose.

thanks

If you want to try serious overclocking then water cooling is a good idea but most amd64s will take 10-20% oc on the stock heatsink and fan. I run a thermaltake big typhoon and my cpu only rises from 36c to 38c under full load gaming, but i am not oc'd at all but a friend runs the same setup and is 20% oc'd and he say 5-6c rise on his.

Personally I would go for either an 4400+ x2 with 2mb cach or a opteron 175. Both are clocked at 2.2Ghz but can easily hit 2.4 on air with no problem. You would get the same clock speed for less money and more cach memory.

Memory good choice, 2 gigs will help with any new game or alot of multi tasking. Stick with the 2x 1gig sticks most people are saying performance is better.

Why are you thinking of raid for the two WD 250GB?

I see what your saying with the 4400+, but from the benchmarks i've seen the 4600+ doesn't have a slight advantage. Worth the money, maybe maybe not.

As for the raiding of the two 250Gs, I want my data to be protected against loss. But i'm also concerned about loosing alot of performance from doing that.
