Hi. So I want to get a very simple desktop to run only Explorer, Sound Forge (and various plugins), and Photoshop.

I will be doing a lot of recording, mixing, and editing. I appreciate quality sound, but would be satisfied with an average final product for the time being.

Any advice for sound cards? I'm completely hardware ignorant. Do I even need one? Is there a very basic one that would meet my needs?

Thanks.

YO Noobster

AT least get a sound baster live they must be so cheap now :D

a pc without sound is so boaring :p

i upgraded my old 1 to a audigy 2 plat. ex i didnt notice that much difference but im not music lit.
sound cards are on the bottom of my list but i use it for games only so it all depends on what u do with your pc

you can add 1 in anytime so try it without first if $$$ a prob.

Right on. Thanks, man. I think there's a Dell package I'll be getting. I'll drop the 25 bucks for the sound card :)

Thanks.
