Our contact at Microsoft has informed us that
Flight Simulator 2006: The Second Century of
Flight is about to go gold, and will be available
for download in late July. At this time there are
no plans for a retail boxed version. The download
will require FS2004 be installed, and will bring
many new features to the sim, including better
default scenery, 8 new aircraft models, improved
performance, and all-new AI logic! This version,
which is scheduled to retail for only US$41.99,
will be less expensive than previous Flight Simulator
versions due to the lack of the retail box, manuals,
CDs, etc. It is expected that because of the
improved scenery modeling in the new version,
current addon scenery will not be compatible with
FS2006. Screenshots should be available in the
coming weeks.
