I recently noticed that on the back of my 5555, a small opening in the upper
right corner that appears to be an external WIFI antenna connector. Does
anyone have any information about this connector?

Do you mean under the yellow dot?

On mine it is a grey plastic tab below the casing screw under the antenna.
Never thought about removing it. I suppose that if there is a connector
under there and it *is* in fact connected to the internal WiFi radio
then attaching a cable with appropriate connector could enable you to use
an external antenna. but if the gain is worth it..
It is possible that the connector doesn't even work, like the SIM card
slot that hides under the battery.

The last time I had my 5555 apart I remember seeing that connector was
hooked up, now weather you can find the correct connector to fit on it is
another stroy.
