Hi all,

I would like to know whether Logitech Z5500 Digital can be connected using analog input from Creative X-Fi soundcard?
Because I've read in the forum by using analog input the soundcard will do all the decoding instead of the logitech decoder doing it which I think the sound card will give a better result.
Thank you.

Yes, don't be fooled by the digital name, its just for marketting. Logitech would never be as foolish as to NOT include basic analog interconnects since this *IS* a computer speakerset.

Did you try both and see what sounded better?

I am curious if the digial decoding in the Xfi makes the sound better than the decoder in the 5500 speakers.

I think you are confused Mfusick...

Using digital would be bypassing all of X-Fi's sound processing and DACs, and be using the Logitech decoder instead.

Analog is the only way you would use the X-Fi's processing and DACs.

Use the 3 mini-plug cables that came with the Z5500 or your sound card.

I have those speakers, and I'm currently using a Audigy 2 ZS, for some reason, when Im listening to music I use the DTS Music Enconding of the Z5500, I only use 6-channel mode when playing games.

The problem is I think there's something wrong with my card. The sound is kinda distorting and you can hear a sort of static when playing games. That's why I wanted to try the analog cables.
