In gaming, even a 2800+ pwns that P4. Not sure about non-gaming applications tho.

It's not about who's better, more like, what A64 matches the P4 3.0 performance.

No P4 is equivalent to A64... there's no such way that you can exactly compare these 2, both have their own strength and weaknesses.

Well, compare the lesser of two evils.
There both CPU's designed to do mathimatical calculation for your machine, so that gives them grounds for comparison.

The most dead set (and theoretically) CPU to compare would be a 3000+
of any flavor, be it Sempron, A64 or AXP. Becuase this is AMD's PR reference, that those CPU's clocked @ 1.8ghz will preform up to, or near the level of a CPU @ 3.0Ghz.
