Installing heatsinc on AMD Processor

I have the artic silver paste which I have applied to the top of my processer (very thin layer) but now I notice there is also a grey material on the bottom of the heat sync. Do I need to remove the material from the bottom of the heat sync?

I carefully scraped all the grey goop off of mine, yes....

(Or you could use just the grey goop, but I'm sure Arctic Silver is better!)

It could also be plastic protecting the goop. You probably already removed that though.
